Astrology is an ancient system of symbols based on the interpretation of planetary and stellar configurations.

It is believed that astrology was born in Mesopotamia 5000-3000 years BC. Astrology was practiced by the Sumerians, Akkadians, Chaldeans, and Babylonians. What is certain is that they inherited their knowledge from even more ancient peoples, not excluding the inhabitants of Atlantis, from a civilization that was at an incredibly high level of development.

From ancient Mesopotamia, astrology spread to ancient Egypt, Greece, Persia and India.

Even in ancient times it was discovered that people are divided into 12 categories, whose characters and destinies are governed by the stars, and the constellations influential at the time of their birth. Therefore, the zodiacal belt, along which the Sun, Moon and other planets moved in relation to the stars, was divided into 12 arches, each 30 degrees, according to a particular sign of the Zodiac. Thus arose the idea of horoscopes, by which a person’s fate was determined by the day and hour of their birth, as well as other factors. This idea is influential to this day.

The twelve signs of the Zodiac are divided into four elements – fire, water, earth, air. In doing so, the Zodiac Circle is conventionally divided into three crosses. The elements show the temperament, and the crosses show the dynamics of behavior.

• The elements of Fire include: Aries, Leo, Sagittarius – correspond to a person who is hot, igniting everything around him, controlling the will of others;
• The element of Water corresponds to: Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces – correspond to an emotional and intuitive person;
• The elements of Air include: Gemini, Libra, Aquarius – characterize the intellect and logic;
• The Earth element refers to: Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn – correspond to people who are cautious, calculating, and reliable.
• Cardinal cross includes the signs: Aries, Libra, Capricorn, Cancer. Gives dynamism, activity, striving for a goal;
• The fixed cross includes the signs: Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius. It gives stability, resilience, firmness, solidity, stability.
• The mutable cross includes the signs: Gemini, Sagittarius, Virgo, and Pisces. This cross gives mobility, flexibility, adaptability, malleability, and duality.

As we can see, each cross contains all four elemental characteristics, and each element is represented in all the crosses. Thus, the elements and crosses represent the unity of the Zodiac – the four temperaments and three types of manifestation give fullness of life.

It is important to remember that the signs of the elements of Fire and Air are active and masculine, and the elements of Water and Earth are passive and feminine.

To determine what element and which of the crosses are highlighted in a person’s chart, we pay attention to where the Ascendant, Meridian, Sun, Moon, stellium or most of the personal planets are placed.

What needs to be considered in a natal chart! The position of the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Saturn, Jupiter, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto, Ascendant, Descendant, Meridian, Nadir and their mutual placement.

Let’s analyze the basic elements. Let’s try to understand how they influence the life of a horoscope host.

In astrology, the planets are divided into:

• Planets of the septenary:
  • Рersonal – Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars;
  • Social – Jupiter, Saturn;
• The higher planets: Uranus, Neptune and Pluto.

The Sun is mental and physical energy. Symbolizes strength, will, heart, self-expression, rewards, self-esteem. Indicates personal freedom and good luck.

People with prevailing qualities of the energy of the Sun distinguishes conscientiousness, honesty, pride. They are able to make an impression, there is a spiritual and physical strength and a sense of superiority.

In the non-harmonic version the possessors are endowed with such qualities as pride, vanity, overbearingness, weak-willedness, a tendency to tyranny.

The moon is a symbol of the soul, our habits, everyday life, reflexes, subconscious reactions. It is a conduit of feelings and sensations. One of the indicators of the presence of intuition, how sensitive a person is, capricious or hysterical. Reflects his attitude to family life, motherhood.

A person with a strong Moon in his horoscope lives through rapid changes in mood. His mental feelings dominate the power of the mind. But at the same time, he has an incredible imagination, lively imagination.

I should note that in women’s horoscopes, the position of the Moon plays an exceptional role.

Mercury is one of the most important planets in a horoscope. It indicates intellect, reasoning, thinking, wit, acumen, insight and observation. Shows how one communicates, whether one considers the issue from different points of view, and whether one finds compromises. It also shows the person’s tendency to intrigue, gossip, and squabble.

Venus is the planet of beauty and harmony, joy and prosperity. In the horoscope shows the level of charm, the degree of attraction to the opposite sex. It is our desires, attractions, love, eroticism, sympathies and temptations. It also symbolizes social relationships and social activities, is responsible for the romantic side of our nature, artistry, sense of style and taste.

It is also one of the indicators of material well-being. And this is natural, because well-being is one of the most desired human blessings.

Venus is also one of the indicators of laziness, opportunism to lead a parasitical life, greed, and jealousy.

Mars is the manifestation of the will and ego of man. Symbolizes courageous strength and militancy, energy, struggle and victory. It is strength, courage, sexual impulse, anger and aggression. Mars is one of the planets that indicates the desire to protect justice, chivalry, honesty and prudence in affairs.

At the same time, Mars in disharmony is the love of conflict, insolence and unprincipled, rashness in actions and rampage.

Jupiter symbolizes happiness and tradition. Jupiter is responsible for achievements and success, prosperity and wealth, generosity and loyalty, recognition in society. In conjunction with Saturn, it indicates how fair and honest one is.

Jupiter indicates a person’s attitude to authority, the laws of the society in which he lives, a love of patronage and patronage, the talent of leadership.

On the flip side of the coin, Jupiter can endow the owner of the horoscope with such character traits as: dictatorship, pride, wastefulness, greed.

Saturn is the planet – the teacher. Shapes structure, limitations and self-discipline. It is one of the key planets, showing whether a person can muster his will to achieve a goal, how organized he is, how honest he is. It is also responsible for difficulties and obstacles, perseverance and endurance, constancy and steadfastness.

This planet can also indicate such qualities as diligence, readiness for sacrifice, independence, strictness and reliability. On the negative side it can indicate spite, greed, envy, pessimism, and insularity.

Uranus represents discovery, innovation, anything new and unusual. In the horoscope, one of the signposts of an extraordinary way of self-expression and originality.

It is the planet of revolutionaries, pioneers, extravagant and extraordinary people.

Well-aspected Uranus in the horoscope is one of the indicators of the presence of divination and telepathic abilities.

In a negative manifestation, with additional indications, it may indicate a propensity for unbalanced and erratic behavior.

Neptune rules the subconscious. It gives refined sensitivity, keenness of perception, depth of impressions, vivid imagination, and enhances intuition.

Neptune generates interest in the mysteries of nature, the universe, the human brain, and everything that defies logical explanation.

Harmonious Neptune bestows its possessor with the ability to infect large audiences with its feelings and moods. Such people often experience creative inspirations and mystical premonitions.

When Neptune is disharmonious, it leads to a weakening of the body’s defenses and a tendency to accumulate toxins and waste products. Afflicted Neptune can indicate a tendency of his wards to use unreasonable amounts of drugs, alcoholism and drug addiction.

Pluto is the planet of transformation, the destruction of old, outmoded programs. Pluto affects the potential of inner reserves, spontaneous energy releases, hidden talents, including magical and healing abilities.

A strong Pluto in the chart indicates a person who can control the masses, a born leader.

When Pluto is in disharmony in one’s chart, it directs one toward violence, coercion, dictatorship, strong willfulness, and strong authoritarian control over the actions and decisions of one’s environment.

Pluto’s strong position in the chart is a further indication of one’s ability to possess vast financial resources, powerful energetic and sexual potentials.

Ascendant is the sign in the eastern part of the horizon at the moment of one’s birth. The sign in which the Ascendant is located is called the Ascendant.

It indicates how a person interacts with those around him/her, it is his/her appearance, physical appearance, first impression made on those around him/her. It is what we see in him when we first meet him. A demonstration of the qualities that he would like to possess. Whether or not he has them, we find out through a detailed analysis of his natal chart.

Decendant is the opposite point to Ascendant, the descending degree.

It shows qualities, character traits that are lacking in an individual, and opposing his development at the same time. It is his aspirations. The setting sign will point to the characteristics needed for a person to acquire a holistic character.

The Descendant also indicates the personalities one attracts into one’s life and rejects at the same time, the partners one chooses. Describes one’s attitude toward other people and their position toward him. The sign of the Descendant will describe the character of marriage partners and enemies.

Meridian – represents the individuality of the person, as well as his place in society, his position in the profession, career opportunities, aspirations. But accurate conclusions can only be drawn after analyzing the horoscope as a whole.

Nadir is the point opposite to the Meridian. Nadir describes a person’s family, roots, lineage. It indicates his origins.

Correspondingly, depending on what sign the planets are in at the time of birth, what status they are in, and what relationships they form between them, this is how they affect the character, and hence the destiny of the individual.

I think you have heard the phrase more than once: “I don’t believe in astrology or horoscopes…I know three Virgins. They are totally different!”

Of course they will be totally different. Because each of them has completely different elements and crosses, completely different planets other than the Sun, completely different houses of the horoscope, and in the end, completely different relationships between the elements of the horoscope.

It is superficial and reckless to draw conclusions from knowing the Sun sign. Because our desires, needs, actions, values, and rules are described by other planets whose positions are not initially known to us.
