Fundamentals of Horary Astrology

Our lives are full of events that are not constant and changeable. We are offered a new job and immediately the question arises – is it worth changing it? We are offered a new project, but will this project be profitable? Even the loss of the phone begs the question: where did I lose it? And these doubts have no end, no edge. Life constantly forces us to solve these or those questions and make difficult decisions, which affect our future, our destiny and not only ours but sometimes the fate of our relatives and friends. Therefore we begin to look for tools to help us make the right decisions. And that is exactly the kind of task that Horar astrology deals with.

Horar astrology is an astrological method for obtaining specific answers to specific questions. It is a quick and effective way to get an accurate answer to a given question – it can be a question about health and illness, life and death, love and separation, work and career…

Let’s understand what Horary Astrology is all about.

The knowledge of it stretches back to antiquity, we can say that this is the origin of astrology itself, as the charts were constructed at the time when the question was asked. Unfortunately, modern people have practically lost the ability to ask questions correctly with understanding. Now that humanity has gone digital it can be compared to a Google query, which often leads to information chaos in the head, delusions and wrong conclusions, as man by nature is impatient and quick to achieve his desires. But in order to get a reliable answer to your question, you need to have that question born and established within a person, not a running line in your head.

The word Horar itself, got its name from the Latin word Hora, which means time. Time in Horar is an important key point, as the map is built on a fixed point in time. There are several ways of fixing the time: when the astrologer, having understood and accepted the question, fixes the time and then builds the map, or the map is built at the time when the questioner had the question.

The construction and reading of the Horar chart requires a clear adherence to specific rules. This is what makes it different from the natal chart, which we can look at both psychologically and spiritually.

In Horary Astrology, there are certain rules for constructing a question:

• the question must be clear and understandable, to which we can answer “yes” or “no;
• must be meaningful, arising out of a real need of the person;
• You can’t ask a question for fun, it doesn’t work;
• The astrologer needs to find out as much nuance as possible to prevent mispronunciation;
• it is forbidden to ask the same question until a period of time has passed or the Moon has left the sign;
• a map works well when we ask one question and build one map;
• if the question is asked by e-mail or sms, the time and coordinates of the astrologer’s location are used after he understands the essence of the question.

The next important point is the radicality of the Chorale card, whether the figure is radical or not, whether a judgment can be made on the issue.

Consider when the card is not considered:

• If the Ascendant is in the first three degrees of any sign of the zodiac, the question may have been asked early and it may be too early to answer, the person may be on the verge of something new;
• if the Ascendant is in the last three degrees, the question is asked too late, the person already knows the answer to the question or the decision has already been made;
• if the Moon is off course;
• If the Ascendant or the Moon is in the Via Combusta or the Burning Path (from 15 degrees of Libra to 15 degrees of Scorpio);
• If Saturn is in the 7th house, the astrologer is in a quandary and not ready to answer the question.

The astrologer, after taking the question, examining the chart for radicality, proceeds to read it. The most difficult task is to assign the question to one of the 12 astrological houses. Each house is responsible for a particular area of a person’s life, which is why a clear question is so important to us. This is where the natal chart helps, as the meanings of the houses are much the same. The person who asks the question (the Querent), we always refer to the 1st house, and the question (the Quesit) we refer, depending on the nature of the question, if it is a question about a lost item, to the 2nd house, if it is about a sister or brother, to the 3rd house, career to the 10th house… If the astrologer is asking a question of himself, concerning another person we can name, then we give the questioner the 7th house. In the horary chart, the derivative of houses works, if we gave the questioner the 7th house, then the counting of houses will be from the 7th house, if the question is “will I get a new job” then it will be the 10th house from the 7th house, and if the question is about children, then it will be the 5th house from the 7th house… Houses in Horary Astrology are arranged in the Regiomantan system.

A significant place in Horary astrology is given to the Moon, which is the co-signifier of the question if it is not occupied by the Kwesite or is not the ruler of the Querent himself. The Moon reveals the circumstances that prompted the question, the emotional state of the person, the area of life that concerns them, and how the matter will proceed. There is such a thing as a no-course Moon-when it does not form an aspect before exiting a sign, it shows that there is nothing to worry about and nothing is going on. The Moon is also involved in the Gathering and Transmitting of Light, it is a link between the planets and gives additional information for the disclosure of the questioner. If the Moon transfers Light from one planet to another and forms harmonious aspects, it is confirmation of a “yes” answer.

Analysis of the location of the Moon, the Querent and the Quaesite, is an indication for timing, all depending on which house and sign they are in. If they are in a cardinal cross sign and angular house, they are hours, days, and when the sign is in a fixed cross and angular house, they are weeks, in the case of mutable signs and falling houses, they are weeks, months, median houses and fixed signs, the slowest months, years. These values show in what intermediate framework the question will be resolved, but the very essence of the question also gives us an understanding of time.

When we have found the house that corresponds to the question, we proceed to the analysis of the Horar chart. First of all, we analyze the planets ruling the signs that hit the cuspids of the houses of the Querent and the Kwesite. An analysis of their essential and accidental dignity – will show what qualities the signifiers have and how they will manifest. If the signifier of the Querent is the Sun in Aries in the 10th house, then it is a strong position, since the Sun in Aries is in exaltation and is in the angular house – the planet by house and by sign is strong, which gives a plus to a positive answer.

We pay attention to whether the signifiers are in the burning (orbits from 18 minutes to 8.5 degrees), or under the Sun’s rays (from 8.5 to 16 degrees). Often burning gives negative effects: destruction, weakness, inability to see, addiction, but there are issues in which burning can give positive meaning – if the signifier of a lost item is burned, (it cannot be seen), the item is often found when the signifier leaves the burn area.

See also if the signifier is under siege by a pest planet (Mars, Saturn, Pluto). If the Querent or Kvesit is between two pest planets, it indicates difficulty, depression, or limitation. If Saturn or Mars is rising in the chart, it leans toward a “no” answer, if Venus or Jupiter is rising, it’s a plus for a “yes” answer.

Reciprocal reception, is also one of the components of the analysis Planets in each other’s abode or exultation show favorable relationships, people’s feelings, willingness to help, sincere motives. When planets are in exile or in decline with each other, they may reveal certain difficulties, resentments, anger, or frustrations. If the certifier Mercury is in Leo in the 1st house and in mutual reception to the Sun in Gemini in the 11th house, the Quercus can be said to be assisting friends.

If the planet responsible for any part of the question is in standing or in a shaft-it gives a delay, some impediment to the result. The retrograde signifier can be played in two ways. Depending on the essence of the question, it can indicate either inhibition, or that the person can change their mind or the situation will return to its original position. In a question about a lost item, a retrograde signifier may indicate that the item will be found.

The next important point is the aspects that are formed between the planets. Only Major aspects and Quicons are used in Horary Astrology. Aspects that go to convergence show us future events, and aspects that diverge show us events that have already happened. Depending on whether these aspects are harmonious or divergent, we get additional information to answer the question. Aspects that are in harmony indicate a favorable resolution of the matter, while aspects that are divergent indicate an unfavorable outcome. The aspect between the major signifiers is important and if there is a harmonious aspect between them, the answer is yes. If the planet is not a signifier, but is in aspect, it shows influence on the situation, but does not manifest it. By looking at aspects, we understand where help and good will come from, and where obstacles and problems will come from. It is important to understand that the astrologer can only answer the question when a full consideration of all the components of the Chorus chart, because, even with stressful aspects, the answer may be “yes.”

Additional information to answer the question, is the definition of the Triplicite, the Thermus and the Phasus, by defining which we get additional advantages or disadvantages of the planets. If a planet is in its Triplicite, Therm, or Phas, this gives it a small positive bonus. Also helping us in clarifying the question is the definition of Antis, which shows the shady state of affairs or hidden interests in the question asked. If the question is “Do I want a new job?” and Saturn in Cancer is in opposition to the Antis of the job, it is clear that all is not well with the job, there are hidden pitfalls.

In Horary Astrology, due consideration is given to the Unmoving Stars. With many stars, the most considered are Regulus, Spica, Algol, Aldebaran, Antares, Alcyone, and Vindemiatrix. Depending on the nature of the Star, the conjunction with the major signifiers (it is important that the conjunction is accurate), shows us the direction of taking the answer to the question. If the question’s signifier is on Regulus or Spica, plus the answer is “yes”; if it is on Algol or Vindematrix, plus the answer is “no”; if it is on Aldebaran, the questioner is entering a new phase in life; if it is on Antares, it is the ending or winding down of some old program.
